SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union College could not slow down a red-hot Rochester Institute of Technology squad on Friday night, as the Tigers notched a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) victory over the Dutchwomen in Liberty League women's volleyball action at the Viniar Athletic Center.

Lara Atalay put down a team-best 13 kills and added 10 digs to lead Union (10-7, 2-2 Liberty League). RIT (16-2, 3-0 Liberty League) was led by Katie Hobler with 20 kills and Taylor Higgins with 12 kills.
The Tigers hit .330 on the afternoon, recording 45 kills with 12 assists on 100 attacks, while the Dutchwomen hit .154 with 35 kills on 104 attempts.
In the opening frame, Union used a 6-1 run to take a brief 9-8 lead, but RIT responded with a 7-1 run of its own to regain the lead for good. The visitors also used a big run to break away in the second stanza, scoring 9-of-11 points to turn a 4-4 tie into a 13-6 lead.
The Dutchwomen took an early 7-3 in the third set and did not trail until the later stages, when RIT came back with a 6-1 run to take a 20-18 lead and eventually secure the final frame.
Union is back on the court tomorrow afternoon, when the team hosts AVCA #19 Ithaca College at the Viniar Athletic Center beginning at 2 p.m.
