POTSDAM, N.Y. – Union College junior forward
Katelynn Russ scored a goal as the Dutchwomen fell to defending national champion and consensus #3 Clarkson University, 5-1, in their ECAC Hockey opening contest on Friday evening at Cheel Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Russ gave Union the lead at 7:00 in the second period on assists from sophomore forward Alli First and junior defenseman Ava Reynolds.
- The Golden Knights leveled the score with 9:01 remaining in the second period, and took a 2-1 lead with less than seven minutes left in the frame.
- Clarkson added three more goals in as many minutes to wrap up the scoring and secure the 5-1 victory. Â
- Sophomore goaltender Coco Francis totaled 28 saves in net for the Dutchwomen as the Golden Knights outshot Union 72-26.
