Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Dutchmen explosive in season debut

SCHENECTADY, NY - With aggressive shooting and electric offense, the Union College Dutchmen managed to crush the Endicott Gulls in its 2018 season opener, 13-4.

Thanks to a dominant first half display, the Dutchmen drew an early 7-1 lead that the Gulls were unable to rebound from.

Union began the game with six goals before the Gulls managed to hang onto possession long enough to score. Returner Kerry Lyne and first year Hayden Frey were at the helm of the Dutch's first half offense, scoring four and two goals, respectively, during the first 30 minutes of play. Frey's first goal of the night, less than three minutes into the game, was the first of his career as a Dutchman.

With a powerful offense, Union controlled momentum for the majority of the game. The Dutch shut-out the Gulls during the third quarter and held them to just two shots. Union's three-goal third quarter was capitalized with a Keaton McCann stylish behind-the-back goal.

Endicott appeared to wake up a bit during the final 15 minutes of play, where they would go three-for-three with the Dutchmen on goals, including a man-up goal just as time expired. However, the late burst wouldn't be enough as Union cruised to a 13-4 victory in its 2018 season and home opener.

The Dutchmen return to play this weekend to take on Babson College on Saturday, March 3 at 12 p.m.
