Dutchwomen swept by Simmons

BOSTON, Mass. - Scoring just three runs over two games this afternoon, the Union College Dutchwomen got swept by the Simmons College Sharks, 8-0 and 6-3.

GAME ONE
The Sharks' pitching staff of Juliet Nelson and Bridget Garach held the Dutchwomen to two hits over five innings, blanking the Dutchwomen by way of the mercy rule. Kim Puzo and Nikki Ditizio had Union's two hits of the game.

GAME TWO
Union bounced back for game two, despite an early 4-0 deficit to the Sharks. In the top of the third, Stuart Buxton and Casey provided RBI doubles to cut Simmons' lead in half. First year Kendall Rogoff tripled to center field to score Union's third and final run of the day. Despite pulling within one run of the Sharks, Simmons tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third and pulled away with the 6-3 victory. 

The Dutchwomen return to action for a busy week next week, playing eight home games over the course of five days. Union's homestand begins on Wednesday, April 4 against Sage. First pitch is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
