Union Beats SUNY Cobleskill 5-1

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Union College junior forward Salvador Lopez Jr. scored twice to lead the Dutchmen to a 5-1 victory over visiting SUNY Cobleskill, Wednesday night at College Park Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior midfielder Jason Miller capitalized off a deflected shot by junior forward Jeremy Conn to give Union the lead in the fourth minute.
  • In the 21st minute, senior forward Connor Horan dispatched a penalty kick into the bottom right corner of the net. The Dutchmen earned another penalty shot three minutes later, which was scored by Lopez Jr. down the middle of the goal.
  • Union took a 4-0 lead in the 30th minute when Lopez. Jr finished a deflected ball off a Fighting Tigers' defender from inside the six-yard box.
  • Senior midfielder Pedram Malakian scored the Dutchmen's fifth goal with 32:39 on the clock in the opening half with a sliding effort off a through ball from sophomore midfielder Poom Mera. The visitors pulled a goal back in the 38th minute, but the Union lead proved insurmountable.
  • The Dutchmen move to 2-0 at College Park Field this season with the win and remain undefeated at home in 2018.
