Dutchwomen Defeat Brown 3-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Union College women's hockey team defeated ECAC foe Brown, 3-1, Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • First-year forward Katie Sonntag gave Union a 1-0 advantage 13:16 into the opening period after finishing a breakaway into the near post.
  • The Bears leveled the score 2:20 later to make the score 1-1 heading into the second period.
  • The Dutchwomen regained the lead 2:26 into the second period when sophomore defenseman Ava Reynolds scored on the power play off assists from senior defenseman Arianna Kosakowski and junior forward Katelynn Russ.
  • 9:21 into the second period, sophomore defenseman Hannah Schultz gave Union a two-goal cushion campaign off assists from first-year forward Cassidy Michalicka and Kosakowski to secure a 3-1 victory for the Dutchwomen.
  • The win marks Union's first victory since October 20, 2018 against RIT. The Dutchwomen outshot Brown 42-36, while junior goaltender Amelia Murray made 25 saves in net.
