DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Union College men's basketball team finished up play at the 2019 Land of Magic Classic with a 78-65 loss to the University of Mount Union on Sunday evening at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's ICI Center.

Mike Concannon was again the lone Union (4-3) player in double figures, scoring 13 points with five assists and five rebounds. Senior

Brian Noone hit a layup to open the scoring and the Dutchmen used a 9-2 start to hold a lead for much of the opening half. A three from junior
Andrew Laub followed by another Noone layup gave Union its largest lead of the game at 14-5 with 5:23 gone by in the opening half.
An 11-2 run gave Mount Union (8-2) its first lead of the game, and the teams traded the lead on four more occasions in the half. The Purple Raiders closed on an 11-5 run to take a 35-31 lead into the intermission.
Union scored the first four points of the second stanza to tie the score at 35, but Mount Union scored six straight points to take back the lead as part of an extended 16-5 run that put the Purple Raiders up by double digits at 51-40 with 13:45 on the clock. A subsequent 10-2 run got Union right back in the game with 9:09 left, but MU closed the door with a 15-3 run that gave the Raiders their largest lead of the night at 68-53.
Union finished the game shooting 40.4 percent (21 of 52) from the field, while Mount Union connected at a 46.3 percent (25 of 54) clip.
Union will look to start fresh in 2020, as the Dutchmen begin the new year with a matchup against Williams College on January 4 at 3 p.m. at Viniar Athletic Center.
