#9 Colgate Top Union 5-2

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's hockey team fell to #9 Colgate, 5-2, Friday night at Messa Rink.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore defenseman Megan Ryan gave the hosts the lead 1:40 into the contest off assists from junior forward Rachel de Perio and sophomore forward Makayla Mori. The Raiders added a pair of goals less than a minute apart to take a 2-1 edge into the second frame.
  • Colgate added two more goals in the second period, one at 3:13 and the other at 18:37 to grab a 4-1 lead they would not relinquish
  • The Dutchwomen cut the Raider lead to two when junior forward Katelynn Russ scored into the top left corner of the goa off assists from sophomore forward Helen Markovic and first-year forward Cassidy Michalicka. Colgate added an open net goal in the final moments to secure a 5-2 win.
  • In net, junior goaltender Amelia Murray recorded 28 saves to keep Union within striking distance.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Dutchwomen return to the ice tomorrow, Feb. 23, wrapping up the season with a home game against #4 Cornell. The puck is set to drop at 3:00 p.m. (ET), and the team will celebrate senior day.
