Jack Santilli added a season-high 14 saves as the Union College men's lacrosse team defeated Middlebury College 14-10 at the Carrier Dome on Wednesday afternoon.
Lyne had a big game for Union (6-1), scoring five times and adding an assist, including Union's first four goals of the game. Sophomore

Lyne was the Union's entire offensive attack in the first quarter of play, scoring all four of the Dutchmen's goals. He opened the scoring 1:39 into the contest off a feed from classmate
Josh Willis, then capped the scoring with his fourth of the game with 1:11 left to knot the score at four after 15 minutes of play.
Middlebury (3-4) scored the first three goals of the second stanza to build up its biggest lead of the game at 7-4. But Union got two goals back before halftime, with sophomore
Keaton McCann scoring man-up with 3:35 left and Sands making it a one-goal game with 17 ticks remaining on the clock.
Middlebury had the better of play for much of the opening half, outshooting Union 30-18 and winning 12-of-15 draws. But Santilli came up huge with 10 saves to keep the Dutchmen in the game.
Union came out strong to begin the third quarter, getting three straight goals from Sands, Frey and junior
Eric Zimm to take a 9-7 lead. After the Panthers scored twice to tie the score, the Dutchmen went on another 5-0 run to clinch the game, with Frey scoring three of his four goals to lead the team to a 14-9 advantage with 6:30 left.
Middlebury finished the game with a 46-37 edge in shots, but Union put 25 shots on goal compared to Middlebury's 24. Santilli finished the game with 14 saves, one off of his career high, while junior
Edward Winters led a stout defensive effort with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Union gets back into Liberty League play on Saturday when the Dutchmen host Clarkson University at 3 p.m. at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium.
