TROY, N.Y. – The Union College softball team dropped a pair of contests to RPI, 2-0 in game one and 8-1 in game two, Sunday.
Game one: RPI 2, Union 0
Sophomore
Stuart Buxton managed the lone Dutchwoman hit of the game with one out in the third inning as the Dutchwomen dropped game one 2-0. In the circle, sophomore hurler
Makayla Koehler yielded six hits in seven innings.
RPI scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the second after a scoreless opening inning, and added another tally in the third to conclude the scoring.
Game two: RPI 8, Union 1
The Engineers completed the sweep of the Dutchwomen with an 8-1 triumph in the second game of the day. Senior
Kelsey Hartsoe had two hits to lead Union, while classmate
Dana Dolinko and Buxton notched a hit apiece.
The hosts score three runs in the first and second innings to hold a 6-0 lead into the third. The lone Union run of the afternoon came in the third frame as first-year
Julissa Malana crossed home plate following a wild pitch to make the score 6-1. RPI added a pair of runs in the fifth to earn an 8-1 win.
The Dutchwomen return to action Tuesday, April 23, hosting SUNY Oneonta for a pair of games at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
