SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Union College softball wrapped up their 2019 campaign by splitting games with Skidmore; winning game one 10-4 and dropping game two 3-2, Monday.Â

Dana Dolinko drove in three runs off two hits, while classmate
Kelsey Hartsoe recorded a team-high three hits as the Dutchwomen earned a 10-4 win over the Thoroughbreds. In the circle, sophomore
Makayla Koehler notched her eighth win on the season after yielding five hits and three runs in four innings.

In the top of the first, Dolinko put the visitors ahead with a home run to left center. Union doubled their lead in the second when Hartsoe crossed home plate as first-year
Julissa Malana reached on an error. Dolinko made the score 3-0 after the second with an RBI single to plate Malana.

The Dutchwomen used a three-run third inning to gain a 6-0 edge after the top of the third inning. Â Hartsoe started the scoring with an RBI double to left that drove in senior
Kim Puzo. The next batter, Koehler, reached on an error, allowing Hartsoe to score, then Dolinko walked with the bases loaded for the sixth run.

Skidmore got on the board in the bottom of the third after scoring a pair of runs. With the score 6-2 in the fifth, sophomore
Kendall Rogoff knocked a single up the middle that plated classmate
Stuart Buxton to give the Dutchwomen a five run lead.

After the Thoroughbreds added a run in the fifth, Rogoff drove in Malana with an RBI single to start off the seventh inning. Puzo hit a sac fly to center with the next at bat, allowing Buxton to score from third to make the score 10-3. The hosts added a fourth run in the bottom of the inning, but the Union lead proved insurmountable.

Game two: Skidmore 3, Union 2

The Thoroughbreds scored the winning run of the bottom of the seventh inning to get the 3-2 win in walk-off fashion. The Dutchwomen never led, but Dolinko tied the score twice in her final game.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Dolinko launched an RBI double to right center to plate first-year
Rochelle Nuqui and level the score 1-1. Skidmore retook the lead in the bottom of the inning to lead 2-1 heading into the final frame.

The Dutchwomen tied the game for the second time when Dolinko doubled to score Buxton. The game-winning run was scored in the bottom fo the seventh inning, when the hosts used an RBI double to get the 3-2 win.
