Game one: Union 6, Sage 5 (8)
Â
The game was tied 5-5 after seven innings, and in the top of the eighth first-year
Lindsey Podlaski's single drove in the winning run and secured the victory for Union. On the hill, sophomore hurler
Catie Raeter gave up five runs in eight innings to move to 3-1 for the season, while sophomore
Makayla Koehler recorded a team-high three hits and drove in a run.
Â
The Dutchwomen took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after senior
Kim Puzo hit a sac fly to center field allowing first-year
Julissa Malana to score from third base. Podlaski doubled the visitor's advantage in the second when her groundout drove in junior
Bailey Kross.
Â
After Sage scored in the top of the second, Koehler restored Union's two-run cushion with an RBI single to center field that scored first-year
Julia Boule.
Â
With the score tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Boule hit a sac fly to right field to regain the lead for the Dutchwomen after Podlaski crossed home plate. The next batter, Puzo, singled to left center allowing senior
Dana Dolinko to score and make the score 5-3. The Gators scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings.
Â
Podlaski drove in Kross the game-winning run with two outs in the top of the eighth inning to earn the third victory of the season for Union.

Â
All of Union's runs came in the top of the second inning, and the Gators used a five-run sixth inning to come away with the win.

Kayla Fisher crossed home plate after a Podlaski hit was mishandled by the Sage pitcher to tie the game. AÂ Malana RBI single with the next at bat plated first-year
Rochelle Nuqui and the Dutchwomen took the lead. Podlaski scored the third run of the inning after off of a Boule single to give Union a 3-1 edge.
Â
A four-run second inning gave the hosts a 5-2 lead they would not relinquish. The game ended when Sage scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to wrap up the contest.
Â
The Dutchwomen return to action Thursday, April 4, hosting Southern Vermont for the first home games of the year at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
