Weekend Highlights
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Salvador Lopez Jr. and
Jeremy Conn provided the spark to an offensive blitz as the Union College men's soccer team defeated Lasell, 6-1, to open the 2019 season on Friday night at College Park Field.

Conn opened the scoring with two back-to-back goals in the first seven minutes of the season opener. The two goals came less than a minute apart, as Lopez Jr. assisted on both, while
Poom Mera added a secondary assist on the second goal.
Lopez Jr. kept up the offensive barrage, scoring the team's third goal just twenty seconds after Conn's second goal. Conn returned the favor after the first two as he was credited with the assist on Lopez Jr.'s first goal of the season.
Mera then closed out scoring the second half, scoring his first of the year in the 34th minute, with assists coming from Lopez Jr. and Farr.
The Dutchmen continued the pressure to start the second half, as Lopez Jr. scored his second of the night less than two minutes into the second half.
Lasell eventually got on the board, scoring a lone goal in the box off the foot of Alex Melo.
In the waning minutes of the game, Barney gave Union back it's five-goal lead with a goal in the 85th minute.
Trevor Krupp started the game in net for the Dutchmen, seeing 55:18 in net before
Kenyon Pelletier made his debut in net. Pelletier played 23:02 in net for Union before
Troy Kohler also made his debut for the Dutchmen, finishing the remaining 11:40 in net.
Union returns to College Park Field tomorrow afternoon, Aug. 31, to take on Keuka at 4:30 p.m. (ET).
