Emma Schleimer both scored to secure a 3-2 for the Union College women's soccer team in a 3-2 win over Westfield State on Wednesday evening. The Dutchwomen improve to 4-3 on the season with the exciting win over the Owls.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Dutchwomen opened up scoring in the first half with a goal from Schleimer. Schleimer dribbled the ball in a scored in the lower right of the goal to make it 1-0 in the 16th minute.
- Westfield State closed out the first half with a goal from Jana Paecht to even the score before halftime. Paecht received a pass from Hallee Tripp to score from 15 yards out. The Owls opened up scoring in the second half with a goal from Lydia Kinsman in the 55th minute to give them the lead for a few seconds.
- Dworkin shined in the second half by responding to Westfield's goal just 37 seconds later. She eventually scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute in the box to score, make it 3-2, and give Union the win.
- Union outshot Westfield 18-9 on the day. Junior goalkeeper Alison Sorkenn recorded two saves for her fourth win on the season.
- With their goals, both Dworkin and Schleimer lead the team in goals, with 3 on the season each. Dworkin leads in points with 8.

The Dutchwomen go on the road for a Liberty League conference game in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., against Vassar on Saturday, September 28th. Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm.
