Dutchwomen End Weekend Series with 5-0 Loss

PITTSBURGH, Penn. — The Dutchwomen struggled to gain their footing on the ice on Saturday afternoon, as they fell to Robert Morris University in a challenging road game, 5-0, at Colonials Arena.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The hosts took the lead at 8:17 into the first period, when Michaela Boyle scored her first of the game on the power play from the slot. She got the puck from a set-up by Jaycee Gebhard, with a secondary assist from Gillian Thompson.
  • The Colonials scored on the second power play of the game, with another goal from Boyle up front. Lext Templeman and Gebhard were credited with the assists on the play 6:52 into the second period.
  • RMU made it 3 for 3 on the power play later, with Emily Curlett putting in the deflection on the side of the net, off a pass from Sarah LeCavalier. Templeman was creditied with the secondary assist.
  • Leah Marino had an easy tap in on the side of the open net to give the Colonials their first non-power play goal of the game. Maggy Burbidge and Allyson Hebert recorded their first points at RMU with assists on the play.
  • Mackenzie Krasowski opened up play in the third period with a goal to make it 5-0, and secure the win for the Colonials. She skated it into the zone and ripped it top shelf past the glove of first-year goalie Bella McKee.
  • Robert Morris outshot the Dutchwomen, 34-21 on the day. McKee finished the game with 29 saves for Union.
  • With the loss, the Dutchwomen fall to 0-2 on the season. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
The Dutchwomen come back to Messa Rink to open up their season on Friday, October 4th against No. 4 Northeastern. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
