Video Highlights

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. –
The Union College men's basketball team shot 55.1 percent from the field and 15 different players scored for the second straight day as the Dutchmen won their fourth straight game with a 99-73 rout of Vassar College in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon at Viniar Athletic Center.

Junior Nate Freeman led four Dutchmen in double figures with 15 points, connecting on 5-of-6 shots from the field and all four three-point attempts. Classmate Rhona Eseyade just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds to go with three blocks, while senior Kevin Jefferson and junior Jackson Mannix added 10 points as well for Union (9-4, 6-2 Liberty League), which matched its season-high with a fourth straight win.

Union connected on 38-of-69 shots from the field to earn the decisive win, posting its highest shooting percentage of the season. The Dutchmen also posted a 38-28 edge in the glass and outscored the Brewers 52-28 in the paint.

After Vassar (6-8, 2-5 Liberty League) took an early 4-3 lead, sophomore Mike Concannon hit a jumper to put Union back on top and start a 12-1 that gave the Dutchmen the lead for good. Concannon had a team-best five points during the run, which was capped by a Freeman three with 14:32 left in the half. The Brewers hung around for the next few minutes before a 12-2 run gave the home team its first double-digit lead.

The Dutchmen doubled Vassar's point total for the remainder of the half, getting seven points each from Freeman and junior Temi George to take a 53-32 lead into halftime. Union shot 51.4 percent (19 of 37) from the field in the opening half, while also committing only one turnover.

Union left no doubt by starting the second half with an 11-0 run to double Vassar's score at 64-32. The Dutchmen again got solid contributions from its bench to close out the game, as a jumper from freshman Willy Samsen gave Union its largest lead of the game (99-63) with 2:32 remaining.

The Dutchmen will look to keep its winning streak alive on Friday, when the team travels to Ithaca for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff with the Bombers.
