SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's soccer team hosted the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats in a non-conference matchup Wednesday afternoon at College Park Field. Union won the game in double overtime 2-1.
Junior
Evan Farr had the game winner in the 103rd minute. Sophomore
Luca Richo had the other goal for the Dutchmen. Sophomore
Diego Pascual-Sanchiz added an assist on Farr's goal.
In the first half Union held majority of the pressure and chances. Richo scored in the 35
th minute on a free kick that beat the goalie to the near corner. This gave Union a 1-0 lead. The Bobcats would answer back in the 38
th minute on a ball that deflected off the Union defender and into the back of the net to tie the game at 1. Union out shot Bryant & Stratton 11-2 in the first half and had all the corner kicks.
In the second half Union continued to pressure Bryant & Stratton but were unable to break through in regulation. The Dutchmen out shot the Bobcats 11-1.
In overtime it was all Union once again. It was not until Pascual-Sanchiz dribbled through the Bobcat defense and took a shot that Union scored on the rebound. Farr knocked home the rebound to win the game.
Union (5-7-1, 0-6-0) will play again on Saturday, October 23rd at 2 p.m. when they travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to take on the Golden Knights of Clarkson University.
