SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Following Union's 1-0 overtime win on Tuesday, the Union College women's soccer team is headed to Geneva, N.Y. for a Saturday afternoon match up with the Ithaca College Bombers.

AGAINST THE BOMBERS: Union lost to Ithaca earlier this year in overtime 3-2. Sophomore
Amanda Sgueglia scored both goals for Dutchwomen in the loss. Senior
Emma Schleimer added an assist. Ithaca out shot Union 21-11 and junior net minder
Abby Mitty made eight saves in the game.
POSTSEASON HISTORY: Union will be heading to the semifinals to face off against Ithaca and this will be the first meeting between Union and Ithaca in the Liberty League Tournament. Union hosted its first conference tournament game on Tuesday night. The last time they hosted a game was in 2006 when the Dutchwomen beat William-Smith in Schenectady, N.Y. The Dutchwomen are moving on to the conference tournament for the fourth time in the last ten years, with appearances in 2019, 2016, and 2012. Union is 10-7-0 all-time in the Liberty League Tournament, including four conference titles in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006.
LATE SEASON OFFENSE: Union headed into Saturday's game riding a four game win streak. The last time they lost was against the Bombers on October 16th in overtime. The Dutchwomen secured wins over Clarkson, Skidmore, RIT, and most recently an overtime win against Vassar, to make it four wins in a row. Senior
Erin O'Shea leads the team with five goals and four assists for 14 points on the season. Fellow senior
Emma Schleimer is second on the team in goals with four and has accumulated three assist for 11 points. Rounding out the top three is first-year
Sam Friedman who has four goals and two assists for 10 points in the 2021 season.
A BRICK WALL: Junior goalkeeper
Abby Mitty has been great in net for the Dutchwomen, starting all 17 games for Union this season. Mitty has a 1.76 goals against average and has three shutouts in her last three starts for the Dutchwomen. She has made 98 saves on the season including a career high of 17 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss against Trinity, earlier this season.
ABOUT THE BOMBERS: Graduate Student Alex Epifani leads the Bombers with five goals and seven assist for 17 points on the season. Graduate Student Kelsey Espenhorst is second on the team with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Sophomore Claire Reader has started all 16 games for Ithaca in net. She has recorded a 13-3 record with eight shutouts and she has a goals against average of 0.79.
