WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Williams College, ranked 20th in this week's D3hoops.com national poll, got off to a quick start and rolled to a 75-53 victory over Union College in a non-conference men's basketball matchup on Thursday evening at Chandler Athletic Center.
Playing for the fourth time in seven days, Union (4-4) came out of the games slowly, missing its first seven three-pointers and 13 of its first 16 shots overall. Williams (8-0), meanwhile, sunk nine of its first 13 shots to jump out to a 26-6 lead 11:00 into the contest. Union closed the half on a 10-2 run, but still faced a 42-22 deficit at the half.
Union improved its shooting in the second half, hitting 41.7 percent (10 of 24) of its shots compared to 40.7 percent (11 of 27) for Williams. However, the Dutchmen could string together more than four consecutive points only once as the Ephs managed to keep Union at a distance.
