CANTON, N.Y. - The Union College Dutchwomen headed to Canton on Sunday to battle St. Lawrence University. Union's comeback attempts fell short in both games, as the Dutchwomen dropped 7-6 and 6-5 contests to the Saints.
Â
Senior
Kendall Rogoff and sophomore
Karson Saunders led Union (8-20, 8-18 Liberty League) with four hits apiece on the day, with Rogoff driving in two runs and scoring twice as well.

Game 1: St. Lawrence 7, Union 6
The Dutchwomen lost the first game after a hard-fought battle, letting the lead slip away in the bottom of the sixth.
Â
St. Lawrence took the game's first lead with two runs in the second inning, but Union tied the score in the third thanks to RBI singles by Saunders and sophomore
Olivia Valery. The Dutchwomen took the lead in the sixth inning, when back-to-back errors allowed seniors
Catie Raeter and
Stuart Buxton to score, putting Union up 4-3.
Â
But the Saints rallied for four runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead, getting three straight RBI singles.
Â
Valery and Raeter both drove in a run in the 7th inning that resulted in junior
Julia Boule and Valery scoring to make the score 7-6 with one out. Unfortunately the Dutchwomen could not get the tying run across and suffered the loss.
Â
Senior
Makayla Koehler (5-9) gave up five runs (four earned) in 5.1 innings to suffer the loss for the Dutchwomen.
Â
Game 2: St. Lawrence 6, Union 5
Another late rally fell just short for the Dutchwomen in game two, as three runs in the seventh inning were not enough in a 6-5 defeat.
Â
Rogoff led Union offensively in the final game of her career, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Â
Sophomore
Amanda Granato started the second game with two scoreless innings to set the Dutchwomen up for success. Koehler singled to center to plate Valery with the game's first run as the visitors led 1-0 after two innings. After a slow start to the game offensively, the Saints had three consecutive two-run innings to put them up by four at 6-2 going into the sixth inning.Â
Â
Trailing by four headed into the seventh inning, the Dutchwomen attempted a comeback in their final at-bat. Doubles by Rogoff and Granato gave the Dutchwomen hope as they sent home three of their teammates, putting Union only down by one with the tying run at second base with one out. Despite the newfound momentum, the Dutchwomen were unable to produce one more run.
Â
Granato (1-11) allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits in 3.2 innings for Union. Raeter and Koehler closed out the game with an inning each.
Â
Sunday's games marked the final contests for Union's four graduating seniors: Buxton, Koehler, Raeter and Rogoff.
