POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Union College men's soccer team was held scoreless as they fell to Liberty League opponent the Brewers of Vassar College 1-0 on Saturday afternoon from Gordon Field. First-year
Jacob Perry earned his first collegiate start and made 5 saves in the effort.
Vassar carried play for much of the first half and were able to find the back of the net in 26th minute to grab a 1-0 lead. This goal became the eventual game winner. Union was out shot 7-2 in the half.
Union picked up the play in the second half sending nine shots on goal in the second half, but were unable to break through. The Vassar net minder made the one save that found its way on frame.
Union lost 1-0 to Vassar on Saturday afternoon. Perry stopped five shots in his collegiate debut for Union.
The Dutchmen will return home on Tuesday, October 4, for a game against Plattsburgh State. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. from College Park Field.
