Skidmore Runs Past Union 6-0

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Union College men's soccer team were held scoreless against the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds in a 6-0 loss on Wednesday evening from Wachenheim Field.

First-year Javier Castaneda made his collegiate debut in net for Union, he made three saves. Junior Sean Speck took over in the second half and made two saves.

Skidmore was held scoreless for the first 30 minutes of action before the Thoroughbreds found the back of the net four times in an eight-minute span to leap out to a 4-0 lead in the first half. Union was out shot 13-4 in the half and only had one corner opportunity to Skidmore's five.

The second half was more of the same for Skidmore. They scored two more times to extend the lead to 6-0. Union out shot Skidmore 7-6 in the half, but were unable to find the back of the net. Union fell 6-0 to Skidmore.

Union will continue with Liberty League play as they welcome in Clarkson University for an afternoon match up on October 22, from College Park Field. Kick off is slated for 2 p.m.
