SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's hockey team dropped their first home game of the season at the hands of #4 Quinnipiac University. The Bobcats shut out the Dutchwomen 5-0. Sophomore
Sophie Matsoukas stopped 42 shots in the effort for Union.
Quinnipiac found the back of the net three times in the first period as they out shot Union 19-8. The Bobcats scored two more times in the second period to jump out to 5-0 and cruised to the finish, with a final of 5-0.
Matsoukas made 42 saves in the effort. The penalty kill was a perfect 3-3 in the game, while the power-play was 0-3. Senior
Emily King went 55.6% from the face off dot to lead all Union skaters.
Union (7-6-1, 2-3-1) will get back on the ice tomorrow as they take on #15 Princeton from Messa Rink at 3 p.m. Be one of the first 25 fans to drop off a new toy at Messa Rink at the women's and men's hockey games on Saturday and receive a beanie, courtesy of New Country Lexus of Latham. All donations will benefit the annual Christmas toy drive, organized by COCOA House. New Country Lexus of Latham will also provide free hot chocolate to the first 300 fans making donations to the toy drive.
