CLERMONT, Fla. – The Union College softball team extended their win streak to four games following a Monday morning sweep of Keuka and Buffalo State at Legends Way Field. Union beat the Keuka 6-2 and Buffalo State 6-5.
Junior
Karson Saunders went 4-5 with three walks and four RBIs in the two games including a 2-run home run in game two to break a 4-4 tie.
Game One: Union 6, Keuka 2
The Dutchwomen opened the game with scoring two runs in the first inning against Keuka. Union loaded the bases with two outs following a junior

Nahnny Sobetzko singled to left field scoring both Hartnett and Saunders to jump out to a 2-0 lead.
Keuka would cut the Union lead in half in the top of the third inning. Hartnett extended the Dutchwomen's lead to 3-1 on an RBI single that scored junior
Samantha Long. Junior
Amanda Granato added her own insurance with an RBI double in the fifth inning scoring Boule. Keuka then cut the Union lead to 4-2 after reaching on a fielder's choice.
Union added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Saunders singled in Hartnett and first-year
Morgan Napier reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded, scoring classmate
Faith Hughes.
Granato (2-0) pitched six innings allowing two runs and striking out 5 Keuka batters in the win.
Game Two: Union 6, Buffalo State 5
Similar to game one, Union jumped on the board early scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Hartnett reached base on an error and was pushed to second by a sac bunt from junior
Anna Zdunczyk, before heading to third on a wild pitch. Saunders proceeded to help Hartnett score by doubling to left field. Junior
Olivia Valery then singled to center field and scored Saunders from second.
In the fourth inning after three singles by junior Hanna Mitchell, senior
Lindsey Podlaski, and Long to load the bases. Hartnett scored on a pass ball and Long followed, pushing the Union lead to 4-0.
Buffalo State would not go away quiet and tallied four runs in the fifth inning on three hits including a double and triple.
In the top of sixth inning Hartnett walked and Zdunczyk advanced Hartnett to third with a sac bunt. Saunders then launched a two-run home run to break the 4-4 tie, giving Union a 6-4 lead. Buffalo State added one more run in the bottom if the seventh following a single and double. Union was able to get out of the jam with 6-5 win.
First-year
Jessie Rooney (3-1) struck out three batters and allowed five runs (two earned) in a compete game win.
The Dutchwomen (5-1) get back on the diamond for a pair of games on Wednesday, March 23. Game one against Washington and Jefferson at 9 a.m. and game two is set for 2 p.m., against Luther College.
