GENEVA, N.Y. – The Union College men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to regionally ranked Hobart College in a Liberty League matchup on Sunday afternoon at Bristol Field House.
The loss drops Union to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while Hobart, ranked 13th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, improves to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Senior
Cameron Klepper was the lone bright spot for Union on the day, as he continued to roll with a fifth straight singles victory. The senior made quick work of Leo Bakiri in their sixth-singles matchup, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Junior
Aidan O'Brien nearly took down Jacob Linares in third-singles action, taking the first set by a 6-4 score before losing the second by the same margin. He came up just short in the supertiebreaker, falling 10-8. First-year
Ben Jacobs also put up good fight at second singles against Harry Liu before dropping a 6-3, 6-4 decision.
Union will return to the home courts on Tuesday for a conference matchup against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute beginning at 4 p.m.
