HARTFORD, Conn. – IWLCA #17 Trinity (Conn.) College outscored Union College 11-1 over the first 30 minutes on the way to a 17-4 victory in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Sheppard Field.
Senior
Grace Heiting played a role in all four Union tallies on the night, scoring three times and adding an assist. First-year
Greta Maurer also scored for the Dutchwomen, who fall to 4-7 with the defeat. Christine Taylor led Trinity (8-5) with a game-high four goals and Lily Ives added four points on two goals and two assists.
The Bantams asserted themselves from the opening draw, scoring on the first possession of the game and scoring the only seven goals of the first quarter. Shots were 14-1 in favor of the home team after 15 minutes.
Maurer got Union on the scoreboard 4:11 into the second stanza to cut the deficit to six, but four straight goals gave Trinity a double-digit lead at 11-1 headed into the half.
The Union defense limited Trinity to just three goals in each of the final two quarters, while Heiting scored a trio of unassisted tallies for the visitors.
Sophomore
Hannah Dubinsky and senior
Jenna Paszek split time in goal on the evening, with Dubinsky making four saves in the first half and Paszek stopping six shots over the final 30 minutes.
Union will head back on the road for two big Liberty League matchups this weekend, beginning with a 4 p.m. contest on Friday at Rochester Institute of Technology.
