Union Blanked By Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – After weather delays split the season series, the Union College baseball team fell, 7-0, in the second game of the series to Bard College on Tuesday afternoon in a seven-inning affair at Honey Field.

First-year Chris Suter pitched a complete seven-inning game, his second of the season, and struck out a career-high six batters in the loss. Senior Jack DiNanno and sophomore Kobe Mentzer each recorded a hit.

Bard took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, and after four scoreless innings in the middle frames, added four more runs in the seventh stanza.

Suter fell to 3-2 on the season, surrendering seven runs on ten hits and allowing one walk. Spencer Checkoway earned the win for Bard to improve to 3-2 on the season, pitching a complete game shutout with two hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.

Union will complete the series with Bard with a nine-inning game on Tuesday, April 27th at Shuttleworth Park.

The Dutchmen hit the road this weekend to RIT, where they will face the Tigers in a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at RIT baseball field.
