Baseball Season Ends in Game Three of Liberty League Crossover Series

ITHACA, N.Y. –  The Union College baseball team saw their season come to an end Sunday with a 19-3 loss to Ithaca College in the best-of-three Liberty League Crossover Series at Freeman Field.

Senior Colby Nash was the leader at the plate for the Dutchmen, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Bombers jumped out a 2-0 lead in the opening frame. Two innings later, Union cut the lead to one with a sac fly by sophomore Ryan Cowles.

The Ithaca offense exploded in the bottom of the third inning, tacking on seven runs to put the game out of reach.

Nash drove a solo homerun into left field in the top of the fourth, his third homerun of the season. The Dutchmen added one more run in the sixth when Cowles capitalized on a fielding error to cross home.

Junior Harry Azadian takes the loss for the Dutchmen, surrendering six runs, five earned, on four hits in two innings. Colin Leyner pitched six innings for the Bombers, fanning five, and allowing three runs on three hits and four walks to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Sunday's game marks the final collegiate contest for Union's six seniors: Nash, Chris Murdock, James Salemme, Jay Masci, Justin Cabanas, and Jack DiNanno.
