CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Union College women's volleyball team finished off an undefeated weekend with a pair of wins on Saturday's second day of the Cazenovia Invitational at Schneweiss Athletic Center. Union started the day with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) sweep of Cazenovia College, then came back from a set down to defeat Mount St. Mary College by a 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19) score.

Shannon McGrath had another big day to lead Union (3-0), putting down a team-best 25 kills and chipping in 22 digs. Classmate
Georgia Pool recorded a team-leading 24 digs in seven sets, while senior
Julia Webster registered seven blocks to lead Union at the net.
Union 3, Cazenovia 0
Union hit well in the first match of the day, putting down 33 kills with only eight errors for a .287 hitting percentage in a straight-set win over the host Wildcats.
McGrath led the team with nine kills on 23 attempts and also tied for the team lead with seven digs and three service aces. Junior

Farah Elgala each added six kills, while Webster put down five of her nine errorless attempts (.556) as part of a well-balanced attack in addition to a match-high four blocks.
Union hit .333 on the way to an opening-set win, putting down 10 kills with just two errors. With the set tied at six, Union scored six of the next seven points to take the lead for good. McGrath and Webster recorded three kills apiece for Union in the stanza.
The visitors trailed 8-7 in the second set before going on an extended 11-3 run, highlighted by aces from Pool and senior
Haley Kresch, to take control with an 18-11 lead after a kill by junior
Keara Page. The team again hit well in the frame, making only two errors on 23 swings.
Union led for almost the entirety of the final frame to close out the match, with Elgala leading the team with four kills in the set.
Union 3, Mount St. Mary 1
Union completed its weekend sweep with a hard-fought victory over Mount St. Mary in the second match of the day, putting down 49 kills in a four-set comeback win.
McGrath again filled up the stat sheet, recording her first collegiate double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs, and Page also reached double figures with 12 kills. Kresch (21 assists) and junior
Brooke Fleming (15 assists) split the setting duties, while Pool dug out a match-high 20 balls to pace the defensive effort.
The Dutchwomen responded well to dropping their first of the year to start the match, rattling off three straight to earn the victory. Union outscored Mount St. Mary 10-1 midway through the second stanza to turn a 9-9 game into an 18-10 lead that helped to even the match. Union then used strong finishes to close out the final two frames, scoring seven of the final nine points in the third set and outscoring the Blue Knights 9-1 to close out the fourth and final frame.
Union will look to keep the momentum going on Wednesday with a non-conference match at Castleton University beginning at 6 p.m.
