TROY, N.Y. – After a career game in the Union College football team's win over the University of Rochester on Saturday, junior
Jonathan Anderson was named the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Anderson rushed for a career-high 211 yards on 24 attempts and a touchdown. The junior's go-ahead touchdown at 10:22 of the third period gave Union a 21-17 lead, which held as the final score.
Anderson is in the middle of a breakout junior season with a collegiate-best 561 rushing yards and five touchdowns, one score shy of tying his career best. The Hamden, Conn. native is ranked third in the Liberty League in rushing yards per game with 93.5.
Anderson is the first Union player to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors since current senior
Donovan Pacatte was honored on November 7, 2022. The football team has had one member of the team recognized each week this season.
Union is back in action in a key Liberty League matchup at Ithaca College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Butterfield Stadium.
