Matt McCorkle Named D3football.com All-American

Full Release

SALEM, Va.
– The accolades continue to roll in for Union College football junior Matt McCorkle for his work on the field, earning D3football.com All-America Second Team honors, the website announced on Friday evening.

The Odenton, Md. Native is the 16th D3football.com All-American in program history since the award's inception.

McCorkle is the sixth student-athlete to earn both AFCA All-American honors and D3football.com honors in the same season, joining Tim Driscoll (2022), Justin Gallo (2011), Mark Herrington (2010), Tom Arcidiacono (2006), and Cliff Eisenhut (2003).

The junior was honored with a spot on the AFCA All-American Second Team earlier this week.

McCorkle has started in every game since joining the program in fall 2021. This season, McCorkle moved from left guard to left tackle. He allowed only one individual sack in 12 contests while anchoring an offensive line that conceded under one sack per game as a unit. Overall, Union ranked 13th in Division III by rushing for 235.0 yards per game and averaged more than 430.0 total offensive yards per contest. The offensive line was key as Union boasted a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in the same season for the first time in program history and only the 27th pair in Division III.

McCorkle earned a spot on the All-Liberty League first team and a spot on the D3ftooball.come All-Region First Team for his efforts this season.

In this year's All-American class, he is one of four Liberty League honorees.
