BAYAMON, Puerto Rico – The Union College women's basketball team finished its time at the 2023 Puerto Rico Clasico on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 72-32 contest to Loras College at Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez.

Senior
Grace Enselek was the lone Garnet Charger to reach double figures on the afternoon, scoring 12 points and adding five rebounds and a block for Union (3-6). Sami Martin and Madison Haslow led the Duhawks with 13 points apiece, with Haslow also corralling a game-high 14 rebounds for Loras (8-2).

The Garnet Chargers once again struggled to find the basket in Puerto Rico, shooting 19.7 percent (12 of 61) from the field and 9.5 percent (2 of 21) from behind the arc. Loras shot 39.4 percent (26 of 66) from the field but posted a commanding 56-31 edge on the glass and outscored Union 30-14 in the paint to earn the win.

After buckets by Enselek and classmate
Kennedy Clark in the opening minutes, Loras took control early with a 12-2 run over the final 7:45 of the first period to take an 18-6 lead after 10 minutes. Union got the deficit down to nine after a three from sophomore
Grace Ardito and a pair of Enselek freebies, but the Duhawks closed on a 14-5 run to head into the locker rooms with a 34-16 advantage.

Enselek scored six of the team's eight points in the third stanza to try and keep her team in the contest, but Union could not string together consecutive baskets to cut into the deficit and Loras was able to coast the rest of the way. First-year
Ally Burke registered her first collegiate points with a pair of free throws in the final stanza for the Garnet Chargers.

Union will close out the 2023 calendar year back in the Capital Region on December 30 at 1 p.m. at Russell Sage College.
