SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Union College women's basketball team headed into the postseason in style on Saturday afternoon, sending off their seniors with a hard-fought 64-57 victory over St. Lawrence University on Senior Day at Viniar Athletic Center.

Playing in their final home game, Union's four seniors combined for 39 points in the victory, led by 15 points and nine rebounds from Megan Lee. Olivia Pachla registered 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks, while Elizabeth Pica chipped in eight points and six boards and Kendall Degenhardt scored four points. Junior Kennedy Clark also had a huge game, pouring in 14 points to go with seven rebounds and seven assists for Union (10-14, 8-8 Liberty League).

Olivia Middleton scored a game-high 20 points to lead St. Lawrence (13-10, 8-8 Liberty League), followed by Olivia Barringer with eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

After battling for three periods, Union outscored the Saints by 10 points in the decisive final frame to pull away with the victory. Seniors scored all 10 points during a 10-0 run to start the period, with Pachla and Lee adding four points each and Clark dishing out assists on four of the five made baskets. After a SLU three, Degenhardt came back with a layup followed by a Lee bucket and a three from sophomore Emma Riley that opened up a 55-44 lead with 4:15 on the clock.

The home team had an answer for every SLU bucket the rest of the way, and the team hit six free throws (five by Clark) in the final 42 seconds to secure the victory.

Union closed the game with 9-of-12 shooting (75.0 percent) in the fourth quarter to finish the game at 38.7 percent (24 of 62) from the field. The team also limited SLU to 32.4 percent (22 of 68) shooting on the afternoon.

Union spread around the scoring in the opening half, with Lee's six points pacing eight different Union scorers. Seniors accounted for the team's first 12 points of the contest before a layup by first-year Jelena Perovic gave Union its largest lead of the opening frame at 14-8. Six straight points by the visitors evened the score at 14 after one quarter.

St. Lawrence outscored Union 13-5 to start the second stanza to take its largest lead of the game at 27-19 with 4:39 left, but Union scored six of the final nine points to get back within five (30-25) at the break. An 8-0 Union run early in the third frame knotted the score at 33, and the teams remained within a possession of each other for the rest of the period until Union broke away in the fourth.

The team will return to action on Tuesday, when sixth-seeded Union heads to third-seeded Vassar College for the first round of the Liberty League Tournament. Check back to UnionAthletics.com early next week for game information and a full postseason preview.
