On top of celebrating the class of 2023, Union net minder
Sophie Matsoukas eclipsed the 1,000-shot mark, totaling 1,003 shots in her second season and first time hitting the milestone. Matsoukas is the first goalie to reach the Milestone since Melissa Black did so in 2015-16.
Union grabbed a 1-0 lead at the 15:15 mark of the first period. King won a battle along the wall and kicked a pass over to Merlo. Merlo centered the puck and Greco blasted home the shot from inside the slot for a 1-0 lead. This was Greco's fourth goal of the season.
Union out shot Cornell 6-5 in the period and lead 1-0 after 20 minutes. The Big Red pulled even just six minutes into the second stanza on a shot that was deflected by Matsoukas. Cornell out shot Union 10-6 in the second period.
The Big Red grabbed their first lead of the game after a major penalty was assessed to Merlo for spearing. Cornell scored to power-play goals on the major penalty to jump out to a 3-1 lead.
Cornell hung on for a 3-1 lead after Union had multiple opportunities with the goalie pulled. Union was out shot 24-17 for the game and went 0-3 on the power-play and 1-3 on the penalty kill.
Matsoukas stopped 21 of 24 shots in the effort as she finsihed the season with 11 wins, the most in program history.

Josh Sciba become the all-time winningest coach in program history.
