Union Falls 2-1 at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A homerun by senior Jack Milone and a strong outing by sophomore Chris Suter wasn't enough as the Union College baseball team fell to Skidmore College, 2-1, Friday afternoon at Castle Diamond.

Union registered nine hits on the afternoon. Sophomore Dan Sheeran and senior Jono Santos both recorded a multi-hit game with two hits apiece.

Milone hit his first career homerun in the third inning of the game to give Union a 1-0 lead.

Danny Melillo reached first on a throwing error and made his way to third after stealing second and a fly out. A sac fly tied the game at one in the fourth inning.

Skidmore took a 2-1 lead in the fifth. Anthony Petersen doubled to lead off the inning and moved to third on a fly out. An RBI single by Jaden Torrado scored Petersen.

Suter (4-3) pitched a complete game and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits, one walk, and fanned three. Ameer Hasan (5-2) also threw a complete game and allowed one run on nine hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.

Union closes out the series against Skidmore with a senior day doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
