SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team had its match with Smith College postponed due to weather in the 36th minute on Thursday evening at College Park Field.
After a delay of approximately 30 minutes due to inclement weather, the teams settled into the match and both teams had opportunities at goal. In the ninth minute, junior
Sam Friedman just missed the far post from eight yards out after some nice passing from close range, and another Friedman run fed first-year
Taylor Bovardi for a one-timer that went right into the arms of Pioneers keeper Skylar Smith in the 12th minute.
Smith made two saves and Union sophomore
Rachel Berliner was credited with three saves before the game was halted for a lightning delay with 8:47 remaining in the opening half.
The delay lasted for approximately 15 minutes before the match was officially postponed. No makeup date was immediately announced.
Union will return to action on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against Worcester Polytechnic Institute at College Park Field
