POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team had its 2024 season come to a disappointing close on Saturday afternoon at Clarkson University's Hantz Turf Field, as the Garnet Chargers battled to a scoreless draw with the Golden Knights.
Needing a win to keep its postseason hopes alive, Union (9-5-5, 2-4-3 Liberty League) went scoreless for the third consecutive game to finish one point behind Clarkson (5-6-5, 2-3-4 Liberty League) for the final postseason spot.
The first 45 minutes was largely devoid of solid goal-scoring opportunities, with both teams managing only two off-target shot attempts apiece. The home team took four corners to the visitors' one over the opening half.
Both teams had four shots in the second half, but the chances were just not there for either side. Junior
Grace Beazoglou and first-year
Addison MacDonald both had on-target shots in the half, but Molly DiCaprio saved both to keep the match scoreless. Sophomore
Maya Koster turned aside both shots on goal she faced in the second half as well, but that was only good enough to earn a draw for her side.
The match marks the end of the 2024 season for Union, which finishes in seventh place in the competitive Liberty League.
