SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – All 13 players scored at least one basket and six reached double figures as the Union College men's basketball team tied the third-most points scored in a game in program history with a 112-75 victory over Vermont State University Lyndon on day one of the 2024 Sig Makofski Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Viniar Athletic Center.
The team's 112 points are the most points in a game since scoring 112 in a 112-63 victory over St. Lawrence University on February 26, 1993, and just three points off the program record of 115 first reached in 1970 against Loyola (Md.) University and matched in 1987 against Hobart College.
Sophomore
Jack Plesser led the scoring charge with 20 points in 23 minutes of action, hitting 8-of-11 shots from the field. Junior
Neil Daterao had a perfect shooting game, hitting all seven field-goal attempts and all four long-range attempts on the way to a career-high 18 points. Sophomores

The Garnet Chargers were red-hot from the field on the afternoon, hitting 45-of-70 attempts (64.3 percent) from the field and knocking down 15-of-27 three-point attempts (55.6 percent). Union also out-rebounded Lyndon by a 42-28 margin, led by seven each from Yakoobian and junior
Christian Dufort.
Union scored on its opening possession and rattled off 19 straight points to start the game before Lyndon got on the board with 6:11 gone by in the contest. The Union lead grew to 20 points for the first time after a Garside three-pointer put the home team up 40-20 with 6:10 on the clock, and reached a high of 28 after Plesser completed a personal 6-0 run with a layup that made the score 60-32 with 1:34 remaining.
Union hit 25-of-38 shots (65.8 percent) from the field and 9-of-15 long-range attempts (60.0 percent) over the first 20 minutes to take a 63-35 lead at the half and assume total control of the game, giving the home team an opportunity to spread out the minutes in the second half.
Ten different players recorded at least one basket for Union in the second half, with every player on the active roster making contributions. Back-to-back layups by first-year
Zach Benmorits gave Union its largest lead of the game at 99-59 with 8:42 remaining, and a layup by junior
Sam O'Toole bumped Union over the century mark a minute later. Sophomore
Aidan Duffy and first-years Yakoobian,
Harrison Collins and
Tyson Repa all scored their first collegiate points in the victory, with sophomore
