Women's Hockey Falls 3-0 to #8 St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y - The Union women's hockey team fell 3-0 to St. Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena.

Union dominated the first period recording 10 shots to the Saint's six, but the first 20 minutes of action went scoreless.

St. Lawrence opened the scoring two minutes into the second period. After skating out from the goal line, Kennedy Wilson spun around and fired a shot from the bottom of the right circle into the right side of the net.

Despite continuing to outshoot the Saints 15 to 13, including a golden opportunity from sophomore Kendal Davidson towards the end of the middle frame, the Garnet Chargers could not capitalize on their chances in the second period.

In the third period, the Saints found their offensive spark recording 10 shots to Union' six. St. Lawrence scored their second goal of the evening game 12 minutes in. After receiving a cross ice pass from Claire Tyo, Abby Hustler fired a shot from the top of the left circle into the right side of the net.

With nearly two minutes to go, Union pulled senior goaltender Sophie Matsoukas for an extra attacker, but Kennedy Wilson secured the win for the Saints scoring an empty netter. Matsoukas recorded 22 saves on the night.

Women's Hockey is back in action on Wednesday, November 20, for a non-conference match up at the University of Vermont. Puck drop is set for 6:00 pm.
