ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester Institute of Technology outscored Union College by five points in the pivotal fourth period to deal the Garnet Chargers a 66-63 defeat in Liberty League women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Clark Memorial Gymnasium.

Grace Ceseretti scored a team-leading 14 points and grabbed five rebounds for Union (4-4, 1-1 Liberty League). She was joined in double figures by senior
Jenna Forman with 11 points and six rebounds and first-year
Olivia Cunningham with 10 points and four caroms.
RIT (4-4, 2-0 Liberty League) was paced by Caroline Henderson with a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds. Ben Kayser-Cochran chipped in 11 points and Maddy Ramsgard added 10 points as well for the Tigers.
Union led for a majority of the opening frame, getting five points from Forman to take a 14-12 advantage after 10 minutes. RIT started the second stanza on a 12-3 run to take the largest lead of the day for either side at 24-17, but a quick 7-0 run evened the score after a three by senior
Emma Riley with 1:58 left before the Tigers scored the final three points to take a lead into halftime.
The visitors outscored the home team 22-17 in the third period, hitting 9-of-13 shots from the field and all four long-range attempts to carry momentum into the fourth. Union's largest lead of the day came in the final two minutes of the period after a three by Ceseretti put the Garnet Chargers up 46-42.
The fourth period was a back-and-forth frame, with neither side leading by more than one possession. RIT built up the largest lead of the period at 56-52 after an Erin DiPaola jumper with 5:27 left, but baskets by Cunningham and senior
Sophia Poplyk evened the scored at 56 with 3:15 on the clock. The Garnet Chargers took their last lead of the night at 59-58 after a driving layup by junior
Grace Ardito with 1:18 remaining.
After a RIT three-point play put the home team back in front, Forman hit a pair of free throws to even the score before Henderson sunk a three with 15 ticks left to give RIT an 64-61 edge. The visitors opted for a quick two and got back within one after a Forman second-chance basket, but two Ramsgard freebies sealed the win for the Tigers.
Union shot well on the night, hitting 45.6 percent (26 of 57) from the field and 57.1 percent (8 of 14) from beyond the arc, but the team only got to the free-throw line nine times and made just three. RIT shot similarly from the field at 44.6 percent (25 of 56), but the Tigers went 11-for-15 from the charity stripe to help provide the difference.
Union will return to action on Tuesday, when the Garnet Chargers travel to Colgate University to face off with the Division I Raiders beginning at 6 p.m.
