EWING, N.J. – The Union College men's tennis team started its 2023-24 spring season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the College of New Jersey by a 9-0 score in non-conference action at the TCNJ Recreation Center.
Playing their first competitive match in more than five months, the Garnet Chargers were competitive in several matches against the Lions.
Starting off the day in doubles play, first-years
Solen Bellemare and
Keita Fukushima came a couple points short of a win at third doubles, falling in a tiebreaker to Alberto Thomas and Brett Schuster by the score of 8-7 (7-3).
Senior
Dimitris Binopoulos also lost a close match to Adrian Tsui at the second-singles flight, coming back from a 6-4 first set to win the second by a 6-3 score before dropping an 10-6 supertiebreaker.
Union will get back on the court tomorrow with a 4:30 p.m. match against Division I Lafayette College in Lebanon N.J.
