SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 9-0 match to Trinity (Conn.) College on Saturday afternoon at Sportime Tennis Club.
Playing in its first dual match of the season, Trinity (1-0) started the day by sweeping the three doubles matches. Senior

Ben Jacobs had the closest match at the top flight in an 8-5 defeat, while second and third doubles both lost by 8-4 scores.
A pair of singles matches needed more than two sets to decide a winner. At first singles, Jacobs took the second set from Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion before falling in the third set, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4. First-year
Keita Fukushima also put up a good fight in third singles against Rico Buoro, taking the first set before falling in a supertiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6).
Binopoulos also came up a break short in both of his sets against Pierce Rutledge, dropping a pair of 6-4 sets in their second-singles match.
Union will take some time off from competition before heading to Orlando for Spring Break, beginning March 22 against Fordham University.
