Union Cruises to Win Over Plattsburgh State

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Behind a four-point night from senior Audrey Larson, the Union College women's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-1 win over Plattsburgh State on a snowy Wednesday evening at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium.

Larson scored a season-high three goals and one assist off the bench for a team-high four points in the win.

Senior Anna Smith opened the scoring only 26 seconds into the contest to kick off a 4-0 run for the home team. First-year Maddy Schiller scored a goal on a free position during the run and Smith added her second of the game in that span. Plattsburgh's Cynthia Barnosky scored her 17th goal of the season at 10:32 to halt Union's scoring run. The Garnet Chargers potted four more goals in the opening quarter, including two from Larson, to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

Larson finished the hat trick with 10:43 to play in the second quarter to put Union up 10-1. First-year Dauphine Michel registered her first collegiate goal with 1:08 to go in the first half as part of a two-goal night.

Dauphine scored 39 seconds into the second half. Junior Greta Maurer and sophomore Christina Guanci both scored in the final few minutes of the third stanza to push Union to a 16-1 lead.

Sophomore Lana Mickelson scored twice in the fourth quarter. A yellow card on Plattsburgh's Lillian Gilroy put Union on the player advantage and sophomore Maddie Doyle scored a man-up goal for her fifth tally of the season. Sophomore Abbi Uhl closed out the scoring with 2:14 to play in the game.

Sophomore Sydney Widlitz earned the win with two saves in the first quarter. Senior Hannah Dubinsky stopped six shots in the final three quarters.

Union opens Liberty League play on Friday at #2 William Smith. The game is slated to start at 4:00 p.m. in Geneva, N.Y.
