TROY, N.Y. – After a good week on the courts for the Union College men's tennis team, first-years
Solen Bellemare and
Keita Fukushima were recognized as the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Bellemare and Fukushima went 3-1 in four matches at second doubles last week for Union, as the Garnet Chargers split their final four matches on Spring Break. The pair started the week by posting a pair of 8-4 victories on Monday, defeating Augustana College's Gabriel Luna and Timothee Philip as well as Whitworth University's Matt Froslan and Ethan Warring. The duo split a pair of 8-4 decisions on Tuesday against DePauw University and St. Olaf College as well, including a win over St. Olaf's Marjan Veldic and Jakub Belik.
Both players also performed well on the singles court, winning two of their three singles matches each. On the season, Bellemare and Fukushima are 4-3 in dual-match play, including a 4-2 mark at second doubles.
Union is slated to have a busy week of action coming up, beginning on Thursday with a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup at SUNY Oneonta.
