TROY, N.Y. – After defeating Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute earlier in the day 11-4, the Union College baseball team was eliminated from the Liberty League Tournament with a 10-5 loss to the University of Rochester on Friday afternoon at Robison Field.
Union falls to 29-12 on the season, marking the best season since 2018.

Sam Strazza hit his third home run of the tournament and sophomore
Caleb Miller recorded his seventh home run of the season.
Union jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Senior
Kobe Mentzer lined an RBI single to center field to put Union on the board. Miller drove a two-run home run over the left field fence to give Union the early advantage.
Rochester broke through in the third inning with four runs. Two fielding errors saw three runs score.

Thomas Parisi raced home from third for the score.
Rochester took a 6-4 lead in the top of the sixth inning. An RBI single from Colby Cruser to center field put the Yellowjackets up by one before he crossed home on an RBI single from Jackson Reed. A two-run home run from Henry Jamieson put Rochester up by four.
Strazza drove a home run into deep right field for his third in as many games.
The Yellowjackets tacked on a run in the eighth and the ninth inning to put the game out of reach.
Junior
Aidan McGee is tagged with the loss after pitching two innings in relief with two runs on two hits.
Union will hope to have its season extended when the NCAA Division III Tournament field is announced on Monday at noon on NCAA.com.
