Men's Soccer Battles RIT to Scoreless Draw

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Union College men's soccer team battled Rochester Institute of Technology to a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium.

The Garnet Chargers outshot the Tigers 6-4 in the first half, with both teams exchanging quality chances on goal.

In the eighth minute, RIT's Gabriel Zaninetti fired a shot from 25 yards out, but senior goalkeeper Jacob Perry made his lone save of the game, tipping the ball over the crossbar.

Thirteen minutes later, Union nearly took the lead when first-year Kofi Sarfoh fired a shot that was stopped by RIT goalkeeper Kristian Dobbek. The rebound bounced to senior Lucas Montalto, whose follow-up attempt from six yards out was cleared off the goal line by a Tigers defender.

Union continued to press in the second half, outshooting RIT 3-1. The Tigers' lone attempt came on a dangerous free kick from Adrian Sobczak in the 74th minute that narrowly missed the lower-left corner.

Union steps out of Liberty League play to wrap up its non-conference schedule against Wheaton College on Tuesday at College Park Field. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
