AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Union College baseball team fell to #16/19 University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, 7-0, on Monday morning at Lake Myrtle Main Field.
First-year
AJ Cutler made his first collegiate start and went 2-for-4. Junior
Nico Lambros also added two hits to extend his hitting streak to three games and senior
Sam Strazza chipped in two hits.
The Eagles hit three singles in a row in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. UWL added another run in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles doubled their lead in the third starting with a leadoff double followed by a walk. Back-to-back RBI singles by Emiliano Ramos and Mac Born, respectively, put UWL up by four.
UWL capped off the scoring in the seventh inning. Two singles in a row with one out set up George Seaman who hit a three-run home run.
Sophomore
Jacob Skarlis earned the start and pitched 6.1 innings. Skarlis struck out four and allowed seven runs on 12 hits. Junior
Alex Oppenheimer struck out one in two-thirds of an inning. Junior
Nick Hiltsley pitched a scoreless eighth inning and sophomore
Garrick Godin struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning.
Union closes out The RussMatt Central Florida Invitational tomorrow with a doubleheader. Union will face Elmhurst University at 10:00 a.m. before playing Williams College 1:30 p.m. at Chain O' Lakes Park #4.
