Wisconsin-Platteville wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first off a series of singles. The Pioneers added another run in the second on a triple.
In Platteville's explosive fourth inning, the Pioneers erupted for eight runs, which proved too much for Union to overcome, as the game ended in a 12-0 defeat.
Game Two: Luther 8, Union 2
Luther took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning by capitalizing on two singles and a fly ball. The Norse extended their lead in the top of the second, adding two more runs off a pair of fly balls to make it 5-0. Luther's final three runs came in the top of the fourth, with a triple driving in two and a single bringing in the eighth run of the game.
Union responded late, scoring in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, after sophomore Sophia Burynski was hit by a pitch, first-year Gianna Guastaferro entered as a pinch runner. First-years Amy FitzPatrick and Carra Cleaves both walked, advancing Guastaferro to second and then third. Sophomore Sam Rose then grounded out to first base, allowing Guastaferro to score Union's first run.

First-year Kyla Springer then hit a ground ball and reached first on an error by the second baseman, which also allowed Wintringer to advance to second. Later in the inning, Burynski grounded out to the pitcher, but Wintringer was able to score on the play.
Neither team scored in the seventh inning, sealing Luther's 8-2 victory.
Cleaves (2-2) struck out four batters while allowing 11 hits and eight runs (five earned).
