ITHACA, N.Y. – The #42 Union College women's tennis team had the most successful season in program history come to a close on Saturday morning, falling by a 4-0 score to #34 Skidmore College in the semifinals of the Liberty League Tournament at Cornell University's Reis Tennis Center.
 
Skidmore (10-9) won a pair of doubles matches to take the opening point, then won the first three completed singles matches to end the day. Juniors 
Kennedy Alexis and 
Chara Meidani were on serve at 4-4 in their first-doubles match against Konika Dhull and Grace Truong, but a late break allowed the Thoroughbreds to earn the win and clinch the day's first point.
 
Union (13-7) dropped matches at the first, third and sixth flights as the Thoroughbreds, as Skidmore ceded a total of nine games in the three matchups.
 
Sophomore 
Luisa Arizpe-Sierra was one game away from picking up a win at the fourth flight, as she led Beilynn Geiss 6-3, 5-2 at the time of the match's conclusion. Junior 
Sydney Alphabet also was tied 3-3 in the second set of her fifth-singles matchup with Mia Sarzynska and classmate 
Skylar Semon was on serve in the second after dropping a close 7-5 opening frame to Truong at second singles.
 
Union finished the season with 13 victories, the second straight season setting a new program single-season wins mark, and also advanced to the conference semifinals in back-to-back seasons for the second time ever.
