SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Sophomore
Allie Kronenberg recorded 38 assists to become the fourth-fastest player in program history reach 1,000 career assists as the Union College women's volleyball team swept Russell Sage College by a 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-19) score on Friday evening at Viniar Athletic Center.

Sage Shimamoto '21 in 2017. Her 38 assists are also the most by a Union player in a three-set match since Shimamoto had 40 against Mount St. Vincent in 2018.
Senior
Shannon McGrath was appropriately on the receiving end of Kronenberg's 1,000th (and 1,001st) assist and finished with a match-high 14 kills on .382 hitting while coming one dig short of a double-double. First-year
Shea Ringel added a season-high 11 kills and senior
Georgia Pool chipped in 12 digs and a match-best four service aces as well for Union (2-2).
Union ran away with the first set thanks to an 11-0 run early in the frame, getting 10 straight points on the serve of Pool – including four aces – to jump out to a 13-3 lead. A 10-1 run followed soon after to shut the door to the opening set.
McGrath put down six of Union's 18 kills in the middle set, as the Garnet Chargers hit .378 on the way to a two-set edge. The Gators stayed within striking range for much of the frame, but Union closed with five straight points, helped by kills from Ringel and junior
Shelby McKim and an ace from sophomore
Madelyn Frederick.
The home team used a quick 4-0 run midway through the third set to take an 11-5 lead after the third of three straight McGrath kills. The lead grew to as many as 10 late in the frame after back-to-back McGrath kills and the Garnet Chargers eased home to the sweep.
Union hit .327 as a team on the evening with 46 kills and 12 errors on 104 attempts. Russell Sage finished at .089 with 24 kills and 15 errors.
